Your Business Expansion Research (BER) Report

Industry Overview

Your industry overview will give you an understanding of the larger landscape that you are competing in. More importantly, it helps you understand if there’s going to be more demand for your products in the future and how competitive the industry is likely to be. 


  • Key Players Who are the key companies or businesses in your industry? Who are the biggest businesses in the industry and what are the core products and services that they sell? What are their business models?


  • Growth  Is your industry growing or shrinking? We will show how much is sold in your industry, both historically and predictions for the future.


  • Trends  If there are trends in your industry, we will discuss these as well and how those trends will impact your business. For example, in the restaurant industry, there has been a trend towards more “fast casual” restaurants. Another example is how the book industry has been impacted by e-readers and smartphones.


  • Competitors   Who are your key competitors in your industry? Are there businesses who are using strategies that are similar to yours? How are you different?


Target Market

This is arguably the most important section of your industry analysis. We will understand who your target customer is.  We will conduct a thorough market segmentation with a clear description of the attributes of each segment.


  • Market size  How many potential customers there are for your product or service. 


  • Demographics  What does your perfect customer look like


  • Location Where are your customers located? A specific country, region, state, city, county. You may even find that your customer base is segmented based on location which can help you determine where you’ll be doing business.


  • Psychographics  What do we need to get inside the mindset of your customers, know their needs, and how they’ll react. What are your customers’ likes and dislikes? 


  • Behaviours  How do your customers make purchasing decisions

  • Direct competition  Companies that are offering very similar products and services. Your potential customers are probably currently buying from these companies.


  • Indirect competitors  Your indirect competition are companies offering alternative solutions to the problem you are solving. This is particularly useful and important for companies that are inventing brand new products or services.   • How you’re different  You don’t want to be the same as the competition. We assess how your company, product, or service is different than what the competition is offering. 


  • Barriers to entry  What protections can we help you put in place to prevent new companies from competing with you.
